A recent Danish study of nearly 100,000 pregnancies has found that as many as 25% of miscarriages might be prevented if associated risk factors were reduced to low levels. These factors include having pregnancies before the age of 30 rather than later. Being overweight or very underweight, alcohol consumption and lifting of more than 20 kg daily. Also night work during the antenatal period seems to be a risk factor. This is interesting research and it is reassuring that simple measures can reduce miscarriage risks.
