All women go through menopause. When a woman’s menstrual periods stop, her ovaries stop producing eggs and her oestrogen levels decline.
51 years is the average age for a woman to reach the menopause and the entire process can last anywhere from 2 – 10 years.
Unfortunately for some women, this can be a time of anxiety due to the various symptoms that can accompany the drop in oestrogen.
• Irregular periods
• Hot flushes
• Sleep disturbances
• Aches and pains
• Irregular heartbeat
• Dizziness and headaches
• Need to urinate more frequently
• Mood changes, such as irritability, depression or anxiety
• Trouble concentrating
• Weight gain and bloating
• Tiredness
Menopause is inevitable for all women; the focus should be on lessening its effects and improving quality of life.
