In this study a large number of pregnant women who took antidepressants during pregnancy were carefully looked at.   There was an increase in birth defects from Paroxetine ingestion in early pregnancy.   There was no increase in risk with SSRI antidepressants such as Sertraline.   Women should consult their doctor before planning a pregnancy and to ensure they are on the most appropriate antidepressant.
